Potty Training Your Puppy

Like babies, puppies can be trained to go potty in the same place every time. Don’t you want your dog leaves little brown logs or yellow puddles all over your house. You will avoid this problem by potty training your dog while he is a puppy.

When potty training your puppy, the first thing to do is to get him on a schedule. The dog should get his meals at the same time everyday. The dog goes to bed at the same time every night. Before put him to bed, don’t feed him any food for at least four hours prior and he shouldn’t have water within two hours of bedtime either.

Avoiding soggy stools you may feed your puppy dry rather than wet foods. Put him on a leash and take him to the area you have designated for his potty after he eats. While he does his business, stand close to him but do not play with him. Reward him with praise and treats after he’s done. Take him to his crate and make him stay there for fifteen minutes or so if he doesn’t go after ten minutes. Try to take him again after that. Let he stays confined in a crate or designated area when you are not around to watch him. While you’re away, don’t you want him making a mess.

You wouldn’t want to go in a toilet that has been used and not flushed, so keep a bathroom area clean. If the dog needs to go again, he doesn’t want to step over and around his own stools too. Puppy pads must be always clean, you simply remove the pad, it’s quick and easy. Keep the area clean is the important ones on potty training.
